How to ensure that customers and visitors are welcomed to your manufacturing unit

Running a manufacturing business isn’t the easiest task in the world, as you will quickly find some factors that you might not be familiar with or are not trained to deal with. One of these is dealing with customer in-person visits.

To do this, you need to ensure that certain things are in place that you wouldn’t ordinarily need just for your workforce to turn up every day. You might see this as a needless expense, but, the importance of creating a good first impression with a visiting client is something you cannot afford to overlook.

    Clear directions on your website

The first thing any visitor is likely to do is to look you up online(so you need to make sure that your website looks acceptable)but just as important is that you give clear instructions on how to get to your premises.

This can make it as easy as possible for anybody visiting you, including a step-by-step guide for getting from any of the main roads that lead to your area. It would help if you also mentioned any visible landmarks they can use that they won’t necessarily have from typing your postcode or location into Google Maps or their in-car navigation system.

Remove any unwanted loiterers from outside your building

It could be the case, especially if you are on the thoroughfare by a college, school, or situated near a convenience store – the teens will loiter outside your premises and maybe sit on walls and generally do what teenagers do.

This can cause damage and present a bad impression to anybody turning up. So, using a sonic device, you can stop vandalism and disperse crowds without asking them to move on yourself – which can have unpredictable outcomes.

Clear signage and a reception area

The last thing you want when customers are near your premises is not to be able to find it – so you need clear signage pointing the way to your unit.If your unit is part of a larger industrial estate, you need to make sure that your signage is at the gates of the industrial estate, so they know they’re in the right place – along with the unit number and possibly an arrow showing the direction they need to go in.

When they get there, you’ll need another clear sign visible from the car park pointing to the reception area. You don’t have long to set a good impression, and this shows the customer that you take them seriously.

    To wrap everything up

You want visitors and customers to your site to be impressed with your manufacturing operation but to do that, they need to be able to find the place and arrive in the right frame of mind to appreciate what you’re about to show them.Clear directions and signage will go a long way to achieving this, as will making sure they do not feel intimidated by crowds of people hanging around outside or damaging your building.
